Topical post from Jim Plush

Jim Plush posted an entry at his blog about how he separates the wheat from the chaff, so to speak, when it comes to senior PHP developers. There’s not much more to add here right now - I think he’s pretty spot on on the PHP/coding aspect of things. Including CSS and to a lesser extent Javascript as a ‘must have’ probably borders on “not top priority” in the minds of many senior PHP developers, simply because someone else on the team would be handling more front end interaction. One thing he didn’t touch on was the ability to work in a team. I’ve met some people that are decent PHP programmers *on their own*, but in a team environment they didn’t work well. Not just discipline with version control, but basic communication skills as well.
